Philosophy

Philosophy

We present students with a wide feast of living ideas and experiences to deepen their love and understanding of their Creator God.

We foster creativity and train students in the habit of attention, as well as the ability to create beautiful work and to speak eloquently of that which they know.

Implementation

Students enjoy a low teacher-to-student ratio, and an age appropriate and efficient school day structure, all in a home atmosphere.

We teach short lessons on a wide variety of subjects, as well as focus on training the habits of body, mind, and heart as we submit ourselves to the Lord.

We shepherd our students with a peaceful demeanor and enthusiasm for Truth, Goodness and Beauty. We prepare purposeful and developmentally appropriate lessons for the students, communicate respectfully and timely with parents, and are committed to praying with and for the students and families.

Charlotte Mason

Living Page Cottage School is modeled after Charlotte Mason’s relational method of education. Charlotte Mason (1842-1923) was a British educator and philosopher. Throughout her career as an educator, Mason taught students, trained teachers, founded and ran a teacher’s college, a parent’s union, an educational journal, and created curriculum.

Mason’s ideas have been passed down through her 20 Principles of Education, and in her speeches and articles, many of which were compiled into her six-volume, Home Education series of books. In these, Mason explains her method of education in which the child is viewed as a whole person, educated by parents and teachers who partner with the Holy Spirit.
