Meet the Teacher
I’m Karen McCarty, follower of Christ, and a lifelong lover of learning. I hold a degree in Elementary Education from Texas Christian University and am state certified. I have had the privilege of spending the last 14 years teaching students of a variety of ages and subjects. Throughout my career I have developed a strong ability to identify and meet the unique needs of my students.
While I have taught in both public and private schools, I have found my home in private Christian education for the last decade. There is something uniquely fulfilling about partnering with other Christians in the education and shepherding of their children. I enjoy the challenge teaching brings and am grateful for each day with my students, as we draw nearer to Christ together.
Our Story
I first “met” Charlotte Mason when I read For the Children’s Sake by Susan Schaeffer Macaulay. Mason’s philosophy of education immediately resonated with my heart, what I believe, and what I have observed about learners in my years in the classroom. My God-given passion for the precious chapter of childhood has motivated me to delve further into the world of Charlotte Mason and to create a learning environment reminiscent of a one-room schoolhouse!
Living Page Cottage School is the realization of a dream God put on my heart to merge my gifts and experience as a teacher, with my heart for a home-like atmosphere, where students of different ages come together to pursue knowledge of their Creator through the pursuit of living ideas. We meet in my private home in a residential neighborhood in Fort Worth, Texas.
